The Porto Montenegro Sports Club

The Porto Montenegro Sports Club was created with the needs of the local community, crew, and PM employees in mind. The club provides the key to a healthy and balanced lifestyle through exercise, personal training, fitness classes and racquet sports.

For those who have not visited us before, we invite you to spend a day making use of our facilities with a free Day Pass. If you are like what you see and choose to sign up in the month of February we'll even give you 12 months membership for the price of 10.

The PMSC has three outdoor tennis courts and a squash court with a certified coach on hand to offer private lessons. Our fully-equipped fitness centre offers a wide variety of weight training and core strength machines, with several new cardio, core and thigh training machines added to the gym floor already so far this year.

Two ten-pin bowling lanes with an on-site bar host friendly tournaments and the upstairs studio has a regular schedule of classes such as yoga, zumba and salsa. A great way to get fit in a friendly, informal environment.

New Stock at AM/PM

AM/PM, Porto Montenegro's very own concept store, regularly sources new products from around the region such as traditional fruit preserves, organic olive oil and photographic prints. By working closely with local artisans and artists, we're not only supporting the growth of small enterprise in Montenegro but also creating a unique collection of souvenirs and gifts.

Our latest arrivals include a striking array of Montenegrin hats, belts, shawls and winter socks hand-crafted by the talented Vesna Rakočević. Hailing from a family of tailors, Vesna's designs are inspired by original 15th Century ceremonial dress and use authentic vintage cloth. Legend has it that such costumes were originally from the island of Crete and were adopted by Montenegrin sailors who happened into port.

We also have a new model ship called the Dubrovacka nava courtesy of master model maker Milos Radicevic. This famous 15th Century shipping boat of the Dubrovnik Republic has been recreated in minute detail with a long round-shaped hull, three masts and four sails – a testament to the rich naval heritage of this region.

Finally, our walls are now radiating a dark golden hue thanks to the splendid leather-framed nautical maps that arrived from the Milanovic family in Belgrade.

AM/PM is located in Venice Square, Porto Montenegro Village. Come in for a pot of herbal tea or an expertly served ILLY coffee courtesy of the talented barristas Mladen and Nebojsa.

Triple Announcement

Porto Montenegro, on course to become the largest and most advanced marina in the Mediterranean, announces three major new developments and the creation of two strategic partnerships:

- The ground-breaking – to take place today – of a bespoke luxury hotel and residences including a yacht club and comprehensive spa facility; in partnership with Regent Hotels and Resorts‚ one of the most prestigious global luxury hospitality brands.

- The re-development of a yacht repair and refit facility in cooperation with ASY Bijela in the Bay of Kotor, across the Bay from Porto Montenegro.

- The doubling of Porto Montenegro’s current port capacity from 185 to 370 berths.

Inspired by Venetian aesthetics, the Regent Porto Montenegro – designed by ReardonSmith Architects and Pisano Atelier – will encompass some 80 units including hotel rooms, suites and multi-room residences ranging from studios to penthouses with rooftop terraces and private pools. Facilities will include two swimming pools, restaurants, cafés, library bar, cigar lounge, and various event function rooms; as well as a signature Regent spa and fitness center.

During 2012 Porto Montenegro will start construction to double its present marina capacity from the existing 185 to 370 berths. With more than 50 of the new berths reserved for yachts over 45 meters and with a capacity of up to 150m LOA, it will become one of the largest yacht ports on the Mediterranean with the greatest capacity for superyachts. The additional berths will be ready for occupancy by the winter 2013/2014.

Finally, 2012 will see the beginning of a superyacht refit and maintenance facility in partnership with Adriatic Shipyard Bijela. This integral component in Porto Montenegro’s role as a year-round homeport will allow yachts nearby access to a respected refit service provider. The refit and maintenance facility will likely be developed in two phases on a 2.5hectare site contributed by the Adriatic Shipyard – located in the historic Bay of Kotor.

These partnerships with Regent Hotels and ASY Bijela are a significant step for Porto Montenegro in becoming the most comprehensive homeport in the Mediterranean and will play a major role in attracting the international yachting community to Tivat all year-round.

Skiing Weekends in Kolasin

For a great winter Montenegrin experience, head to Kolasin. Located just 3 hours away from Porto Montenegro, the resort offers great skiing, a lively mountain village and an abundance of restaurants and bars.

For dinner, we recommend Stara Konoba. Featuring tasty mountain fare and a traditional rustic feel, it's the perfect spot after a day on the slopes. For an authentic Montenegrin experience, try the Kačamak, a hearty potato dish mixed with Kolasin's local cheese. Extend the night with a few post-dinner drinks at one of the local bars such as Balkan and Select, or visit one of the après ski spots on or off the slopes.

Porto Montenegro offers a crew chalet for up to 18 people throughout the winter season. To book your stay or to sign up for one of the event weekends, please contact the marina office. The next one is the “Superhero Ski Weekend", taking place in February. Don't forget your capes. For more images visit our Facebook page.
